Google Apps Login utilizes Google's new account management platform to automatically login users on a website, if they have registered using their Gmail address.
It works by adding a "Login with Google" button in the user login form, which when clicked will require the user to enter his Google user and password.
If the user is already authenticated on Google (which most people are), the user will simply be redirected to the admin panel right away. So basically a fast, yet secure one-click authentication model.
As for security, Google Apps Login uses Google secure OAuth2 protocol, so developers can rest assured their authentication system is cute hard to crack.
Google Apps Login works with the following types of Google accounts:
- Gmail addresses
- Googlemail.com address
- Email addresses powered by the Google Apps for Business platform
- Email addresses powered by the Google Apps for Education platform
- Email addresses powered by the Google Apps for Non-profits platform
This is mainly how the free version functions. The premium adds these extra features:
- Syncs user data from the Google account
- Fine-grained permissions and access management
Installation:
Unpack and upload it to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory.
Activate the plugin through the 'Plugins' menu in WordPress.
